2 Day Sewing Intensive

 

This course is designed for students wanting a fast and intensive overview of sewing basics. For students entering the Pattern Making & Assembly Program and Costume, this course is critical should you not have prior knowledge or demonstrated skills in sewing.

Looking to learn the basics to captivate the world of fashion design? The Cut offers you a variety of two-day intensive workshops designed to maximize your industry knowledge within a minimum time frame. In these hands-on workshops, students will be immersed in all facets of the fashion business. With lectures, class discussions, and hands on instruction students are taught by industry professionals in small group settings, receiving first-class learning in a real-life business environment. Each class is 2 Half-Days / 6 Hours per Day / 12 Hours in Total. There are no prerequisites for our 2 day intensives. Acquire the skills you need to reach your academic and professional goals or complement your current full-time diploma or degree program, or simply build a competitive portfolio for graduate program applications, or just simply become better at your craft.

 

Sewing

If you’re new to sewing this is the course for you. You’ll start with the basics and learn to cut and sew garments and accessories. You will create a sample book which include seams, zippers and bindings. The projects you will make include a tote bag lined, sweatshirt, button up shirt, and more.

 

Day 1:

  • Introduction: Domestic machines, Industrial machines
  • Differences in: Threading, winding bobbin, sewing speed, controlling and other mechanical part
  • Seam Finishes: Straight, Curved, Flat Fell, Welt, French, Hong Kong Bound, Binded, Piping and Serged.
  • Day 2:

  • Zipper: Invisible, Open (Jacket), Under Flap (Pillow Case), In-Seam
  • Pockets: Patched, Cargo, Welt, Doubled Welt, Jean, Patched Pocket without Topstitching

    Isha Singhal

    Isha Singhal, with a bachelors of design degree from NIFT ( national institute of fashion design, India) 2012-2016, diploma in fashion styling and image design ( pearl academy, India) 2016-2018. I started my label Isha Singhal Label in 2017-2023, New Delhi, India. Isha is currently studying MBA at university canada west, vancouver, 2023-2024. With over a decade of experience, and a career as a founder and head designer of her own label Isha now is a senior instructor at colleges in British Columbia.
